Objectives:
1. To develop student’s ability for effective and natural communication in both
social and academic settings
2. To promote integrated skills with primary emphasis on listening and speaking
skills
3. To improve communication management and language learning strategies to
become effective communicators
4. To promote active learning in students through topics relevant to their
interests and experiences
5. To introduce autonomous learning using various up-to-date and useful
resources
Textbook: Four Corners, Cambridge (240 Baht at CU Bookstore)
Unit 1, 2, 4, and 5
(Please buy their books since they have to use them again for English II.)
Evaluation (100 marks)
1. Class attendance 5 marks
By the university regulations, students cannot be absent from
class more than 6 hours of classes (both tutorials and
computer labs). If they do, they will not be eligible for the
exams and get F automatically. (Classroom + Computer)

2. FLRU 5 marks
Each teacher introduces the FLRU to the students through Moodle. (https://elearning.sut.ac.th/course/view.php?id=401) The students need to log in to take a look at the page.
FLRU books are sold at the price of 10 baht at the unit. Students are required to collect 10 stamps to get 5 marks (2 stamps of access equal 1 mark). They can use any resources available at the center. However, try to encourage them to use the Tell me more program.
3. Quizzes and assignments 10 marks
Any kinds of quizzes and assignments related to the contents are welcome.
4. Midterm Exam 30 marks
Date: 2 September 2015, 12.00 – 2.00 p.m.
The test specification for Midterm examination is as follows:
Section One: Listening
- 15 questions
- based on conversations in Four corners units 1 & 2
Section Two: Dialogue completion
- 10 questions
- based on conversations in Four corners units 1 & 2
Section Three: Vocabulary
- 10 questions
- based on vocabulary in Four corners units 1 & 2
Section Four: Grammar
- 10 questions
- based on grammar in Four corners units 1 & 2
Section Five: Reading
- 15 questions
- short readings similar to those at the end of units 1 & 2
*** Please show up in front of the test room around 10 minutes before the test time since the listening section starts on time. ***
5. Final interview 20 marks
The interview will be conducted by own teacher during the class time. The
topics of the interview are unit 1 and unit 5. The teacher should
randomly put students in groups of 4.
Inform your students the group they belong to around 10 minutes before they perform their speaking test.
Topics: Life at university
A dream vacation
(the assessor selects one topic for each group)
Duration: 7 minutes
Date: Week 11 or 12 of the trimester during your class time
6. Final written 30 marks
Date: 15 October 2015, 1.00-3.00 p.m.
